Saints sign journeyman tackle
The Browns have acquired backup running back Dion Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade for linebacker Emmanuel Acho.
Lewis played 24 games in two seasons with the Eagles, who selected him in the fifth round in 2011. He rushed for 171 yards on 36 carries and scored two touchdowns. The 5 foot 8, 195 pound Lewis also returned kickoffs for Philadelphia as a rookie and will likely be a candidate to take over those duties for Cleveland. The Browns didn't re sign Pro Bowl specialist Josh Cribbs this offseason.
The 6 0, 251 pound McNary also set a school record with 49 tackles for loss. He also had 195 Saucony Kineta tackles, nine defended passes and five forced fumbles.
New York Jets, a person informed of the meeting told USA TODAY Sports. The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team doesn't comment on player visits, confirmed previous reports Johnson has visited the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars and has worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

They'll have to wait for the former Army standout to join their offseason work, he's still commissioned in the Army and must finish his active duty before joining the Colts.
"Josh had an outstanding career at West Point,'' general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement released by the team. "His production speaks for itself, but his intangibles rival any stats. He is still fulfilling the commitment he made to serving our country, but we look forward to him wearing the horseshoe here in the near future.''
Johnson has been slated by some to be gone before the Jets are on the clock at No. 9, but should Johnson fall to No. 9, the Jets, even though they don't seem to need him, could still grab him if they had the 13th selection.
Lewis averaged 21.6 yards on 31 kickoff returns in 2011.

a team that has one high draft pick and might soon add another.
during what NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock called "the freakiest combine in the history of our coverage of the combine." ESPN's Mel Kiper said Johnson is "right there with (Luke) Joeckel and (Eric) Fisher" in "a three way battle to see who's going to be the first tackle taken." Joeckel is projected by many as the draft's top pick.
Tackle Lane Johnson visiting Jets
The New Orleans Saints are the latest team to give offensive tackle Jason Smith a chance to resurrect his career.
Smith spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the St. Louis Rams but was traded to the New York Jets for Wayne Hunter in a swap of struggling tackles. Smith mostly served as an extra tight end for the Jets.
Now, his wait is nearly over.
Colts sign former Army linebacker
The Jets are an interesting case, because they have D'Brickashaw Ferguson at left tackle and got a good season out of right tackle Austin Howard last year. But the Jets, who hold the ninth overall pick, might soon trade Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which would net them the 13th pick.
The Indianapolis Colts have reinforced their linebacker depth by signing free agent Josh McNary.
Johnson ran a 4.72 second 40 yard dash, had a vertical leap of 34 inches, put up 28 reps on the bench press and ran a 4.52 second short shuttle.
The team announced the signing of Smith, the second overall pick in the 2009 draft, to a one year deal on Thursday. As it looks now, Smith has a shot to grab a starting spot because the Saints lost Jermon Bushrod to the Chicago Bears in free agency, though the team could still add a tackle in the draft.
Browns trade LB Acho to Eagles for RB Lewis
Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson has been generating plenty of interest over the past couple of months and is making a visit Thursday to Saucony Shadow Original
McNary was rated the 14th best outside linebacker prospect for the 2011 draft by ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. after setting a school record with 28 sacks in his career. He faced two years of active duty and was not drafted.
Acho spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve after injuring his knee. The Browns selected the former Texas linebacker in the sixth round last year.
