"I hope they leave being able to tell whoever else they run into in their own countries, and other countries, too, what a wonderful time they had and how much fun it was," she said. "The more people who come here and tell other Friendship Force members about it, the more people who will want to come."

"You get to know them, and you get to talk to them," said Roni Nicora, Reno Tahoe Friendship Force president. "It's very hard to fight and argue with people who have lived in your home, had their feet under your table, who you've conversed with for at least a week. It cements relationships between countries."

The members of Reno Tahoe Friendship Force will meet the ambassadors in Truckee, where together they will visit Donner Lake and learn about the Reebok Online Donner Party.

year, Reno Tahoe Friendship Force is ready for the exchange to come to fruition.

"We're meeting new people," Nicora said. "We're making new friends."

"Whenever people come here, we kill ourselves to make sure they have a good time," she said.

While the ambassadors will get to explore the American West and learn about the area's silver and gold rushes, the hosts benefit from the exchange as well.

"The whole club is excited," Nicora said. "We can't wait to go out to Truckee and get them. Then they're ours, and we get to show them our stuff. We're very proud of our area.

Nicora said she hopes that this exchange will lead to more interest in the Reno/Tahoe area among Friendship Force members.

Getty Images)The Friendship Force of Reno Tahoe will be hosting a Themed Global Exchange Tuesday through June 28. The four day exchange will be the conclusion of an 18 day trip for Friendship Force members from five countries and five states through San Francisco, Napa, Sonoma and Sacramento.

The exchange has been in the works since January 2013, Nicora said. She put the exchange together, calling it her "baby," contacting the other three Friendship Force chapters to organize and plan the exchange.

the Netherlands, Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida and North Carolina will spend five days in San Francisco, followed by four in Napa and Sonoma, five in Sacramento and four in the Reno/Tahoe area, learning about the exchange's theme, "Discover How Gold and Silver Built the West." Each traveler, called an ambassador, paid $1,100 for the trip, which includes expenses.

What Friendship Force does is all in the name.

That includes living expenses, as ambassadors will be staying with a different Friendship Force member in each city they stop in.

The group will spend a day in Virginia City, giving the ambassadors the opportunity to explore many of the city's museums and mines. The exchange also will include a boat ride on Lake Tahoe and a visit to the Mackay School of Earth Sciences Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.

"We make friends," Nicora said. "It seems really simple. We do have a mission. It's a mission to be a friend to the world and to make friends around the world."

It's been a lot of hard work, Nicora said.
