Our immediate family celebrating the 4th of July
Lucy and I are part of a dying breed of
"born and bred" Southerners. We were raised in the South with traditional
values of family, church, work and a healthy sense of helping your neighbor. We
feel like Nashville and Middle Tennessee still hold those values close to its
heart and enjoy living and working in a community with such a strong
foundation.

I was born in Nashville. I was then moved
to southern Kentucky and raised on a farm until the age of 9. I am the oldest
of 4 children. My family moved to Winston Salem, North Carolina where I stayed
until it was time to go to college. I met Lucy at RJ Reynolds High School and
we married after our graduation. I attended Florida State University in
Tallahassee and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Cereal Chemistry and
business. Lucy and I had our first child there, a son, and then moved to
Nashville to begin working in my family's business. We soon had 2 more children
and have remained in Nashville since we arrived in the early 60's. Our 2 sons
attended Battle Ground Academy and our daughter Harpeth Hall.

I was able to help our company, Tennessee
Doughnut Corporation, grow into a multi-million dollar business during a
20-year span, taking it from a local company to enjoy national sales and
distribution of our manufactured fresh and frozen bakery products. After
selling TDC, I spent a short time learning how to trade securities and
commodities, and then went into the construction and land development industry,
building residential houses in several developments around Middle Tennessee. It
was during this time that I became familiar with and interested in the real
estate business.

preschool Sunday School class
Lucy was born in Winston Salem, North
Carolina and is the youngest of 3 girls. Her family also had a farm outside of
town and she enjoyed romping through the woods with her family as she grew.
Once we arrived in Nashville and settled in with our family, Lucy quickly
became active in the community, serving in many capacities at church, our kids'
schools and other volunteer organizations. Her church work led her into
becoming a Preschool Specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Convention, traveling
across the state and country conducting seminars on teaching preschoolers. She
developed a love of tennis and played regularly. After our children grew and
"left the nest" Lucy obtained her real estate license and has been in the
industry since 1990. Our time raising a family in Middle Tennessee has given us
a great knowledge of the area.
The Whole Rudolph
Clan
Our children now have families of their own
and we are blessed with 4 beautiful grandchildren. Our daughter and family live
in Thompsons Station, Tennessee in Williamson County. Our son and his family
live in Coral Springs, Florida, just north of Miami. We are a close family and
enjoy vacationing together, visiting whenever possible.

In my spare time, I research, map out and
visit Civil War battlefields and other sites around Middle Tennessee. I also
metal detect for historic relics. This is an extremely rich area in historical
sites and I have become quite knowledgeable about the battles and skirmishes
fought and the overall history here. I also teach a 4th grade Sunday School
class and am a deacon at our church. I "piddle" in the yard whenever I must.
Lucy is a wonderful
cook! |
Lucy's favorite hobby is cooking and has a
large cookbook library to prove it! She swears, though, that she doesn't have
nearly enough time to cook as much as she would like. She is also an
accomplished watercolor painter and enjoys reading anything she can get her
hands on. She is the preschool Sunday School director for our church and is
active in the annual Baptist Christmas Toy Store for needy families in the
Nashville area.
We hope that this gives you some insight
into who we are and what we do, so that you might know us better. Lucy and I
are first Christians, second family members and third real estate professionals
ready to serve you.

The way that you hold title to your property has legal, tax, and estate-planning consequences. Many buyers do not receive adequate professional advice on this important aspect of property ownership.
If you are purchasing property by yourself, you will be acquiring title by sole (or "separate") ownership, single ownership, or severalty ownership. The term "severalty" does not denote more than one person - it is a legal term meaning that sole ownership is severed from all other forms of ownership.
If you are purchasing property with others, the most common forms of co-ownership are tenancy in common, joint tenancy, and community property. Tenants in common can be created when two or more related or unrelated people hold title to a property either equally or unequally. Each individual has the right to do whatever he wishes with his interest in the property. For example, he can sell his interest, give it away, or will it to someone else.
Before you take title, you should seek advice from your tax advisor and an attorney, particularly if you are buying the property with another person.
